After years of enduring severe fire consequences, Portugal is taking a leading role in forest protection by promoting international cooperation in forest fire management.
Under the guidance of theInternational Liaison Committee (ILC), theInternational Wildland Fire Conferences have been held in various corners of the world since their first edition in 1989, until they reached their new "host" - the Alfândega do Porto - Congress Centre, from 16 to 19 May 2023.
The Portuguese edition is being organized byAGIF — Agency for Integrated Rural Fire Management and the Portuguese Republic, which aims to attract more than 1200 participants from all over the world, as well as more than 500 scientific abstracts focusing on Integrated Fire Management and Fire Risk Governance.
